Packing for your Adventure

When you're heading out into the remote wilderness, you don't want your adventure to be compromised by forgetting something important (like your bike or helmet - don't laugh, that has happened), or having something break unexpectedly (and the nearest bike shop is a 90 minute drive away).  A bit of planning makes a massive difference.

Don't forget to stock up on food for the trail - there are no shops along the trail (although your accommodation may supply meals) - nothing worse than a hangry rider :-O

Download our packing list and use it to check things off before you go!

(And don't forget to let someone know when you're leaving, who you're with, where you're going and when you'll be back - so if you go AWOL they can follow up)

Riding Safely on the Trail

We recommend you ride in a group, and ideally with a couple of experienced riders.  If you're new to the experience - then consider taking a guide who can take care of everything for you and bring the trail to life along the way.

  • Check you have all your gear before you leave. (including bikes and helmets)
  • Have you got someone who can carry out basic mechanical repairs on the go
  • Who is your nominated first aider?
  • Who is taking care of transport and logistics?
  • Who is responsible for navigation and making sure the group is travelling over the trail together?
  • Who has the PLB for emergencies and do they know what to do in an emergency?
  • Are you familiar with trail etiquette?

Make a plan, communicate it and stick to it.
